Let’s Get Social

You’re Invited !  Join the adventure in the next category of discovery with our model of Bio-Psycho-SOCIAL-Spiritual Rehabilitation – for Depression and Anxiety.

At heart – we know that we need each other. We are divinely designed to be social – to be connected with our God and with each other.

What we may not be as aware of are the physical, mental and emotional health benefits of social connection, and of the risks imposed by isolation – a symptom of depression.

‘It is not good for man to be alone’ Genesis 2:18

This section offers encouragement, and celebration of our ‘connections’, with strategies for enhancing the healing power of contact – even when we don’t feel especially social. Here’s a preview of upcoming articles:

  • Social ‘science’: What the research has to say about the needs, benefits, and How To’s of social contact – and the risks of isolation.
  • Famous Folks who have coped with Depression and Anxiety or other Mental Health issues (with encouraging words).

  • Communication:

What you wish your family knew – and how to tell them.

What the family can say to a loved one with Depression – and how to say it.

Assertive Communication – for both sides of the table.

  • HOPE and Understanding: Giving – Receiving – and Holding.
  • Laughter and Play – powerful tools for coping: HOW to use humor for health, when there is nothing funny about how you feel.

  • MUSIC To Your Ears:

From Recovery to Rejoicing – How to use musical power to good effect … for solo and social application;  Play Lists – and Lyrical Logic –Tune in to the words AND melody;  Joyful Noise – And How To Make it (no special talent or training required).

  • Movie Magic:

More than mere entertainment – movies can also be therapeutic. They can minister in surprising ways.

I’m excited to share this next section with you. Scripture has much to say to believers about the blessings of social contact.   For example:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.     2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.    Philippians 2:1-2

My prayer is that you will be blessed as we explore and learn together – giving and receiving comfort.

YOU ARE INVITED – please join the adventure, and share your questions, comments, and suggestions with me along the way.

Until next week … Blessings, Love and Laughter to you,

Marge
